Effective October 26, 2026

This notice explains how Joshua Allen Parker handles information through joshallenparker.com and the Weekly Note. For a privacy question or request, email online@joshallenparker.com.

Information you choose to provide

Newsletter. When you sign up for the Weekly Note, I collect your email address and information about your subscription, including the signup and confirmation times. The newsletter uses email confirmation: submitting the form is followed by a confirmation email. You can unsubscribe through the link in an email.

Messages. The contact form collects your name, email address, and message so I can respond and keep track of the conversation. Sending a message does not subscribe you to the newsletter. Please do not send passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information through the form.

Accounts and public contributions. If you use the site’s account features, WordPress processes your username, email address, credentials, and profile information to administer your account. If commenting is available and you choose to post, the information you publish can be visible to other readers. Login, password-reset, and security processes can also use technical request information to prevent abuse.

Website and campaign measurement

The site uses a custom reader-journey system to understand whether a visit leads to an article, a newsletter signup, and a confirmed subscription. It records a browser-session identifier, the relevant article, the signup invitation used, and event times. When you arrive through a campaign-tagged link, it can also keep the source, medium, campaign, content, and search-term labels included in that link.

These systems use browser session storage and a 30-minute inactivity window. They do not store your email address in that browser storage. The custom WordPress journey records do not store email addresses or raw IP addresses. On signup, the journey identifier, article, invitation, and any campaign labels can be attached to your newsletter profile in Klaviyo so a submitted form can be distinguished from a confirmed subscription.

The custom reader-journey and campaign scripts skip ordinary signed-in WordPress traffic and browsers signaling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Explicitly marked quality-assurance tests are kept separate from ordinary reader reporting. These exclusions apply to the custom measurement systems; they do not prevent hosting, newsletter, or security providers from receiving the technical information needed to deliver their services.

Cookies, browser storage, and service providers

WordPress and the site’s account tools can use cookies for login sessions, preferences, and related functions. Hosting and security services receive technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested pages, and request times to deliver and protect the site. This is separate from the limited custom journey records described above.

Klaviyo provides the newsletter signup form, subscription records, and email delivery. Loading its form or scripts can send it technical information about your browser and visit. Its services can use cookies or browser storage, associate activity with an identified subscriber, and report email delivery, opens, and link clicks. Provider processing is described in Klaviyo’s privacy policy.

Google reCAPTCHA helps protect forms from spam and abuse. When it loads, Google can process information about your device, connection, and interactions to assess whether activity appears automated. Its use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate. Links to other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Browser settings can restrict cookies or storage, although doing so may affect forms or account features.

How I use and share information

I use information to send the newsletter you request, respond to messages, administer accounts, maintain security, and understand which ideas and invitations help readers find useful work. Information is processed by providers supporting those activities, including website hosting and security, email delivery, Klaviyo, and Google reCAPTCHA. Information may also need to be disclosed to meet a legal requirement or address fraud, abuse, or a security issue.

I do not sell or rent reader or contact details, share them with other businesses for their own marketing, or upload subscriber or contact lists to advertising platforms. Promoting an article through an advertising platform does not give that platform access to my newsletter list. The current site setup does not include a Google Ads or OpenAI advertising-conversion pixel. If I introduce new advertising measurement or other material data practices, I will update this notice and provide any choices required for the new use.

How long information is kept

Custom WordPress reader-journey records are retained for 90 days. Browser session data remains subject to browser storage controls and the measurement window described above. Campaign and signup details attached to a Klaviyo profile follow the newsletter record rather than the WordPress journey-record schedule.

Newsletter records are kept to manage subscriptions and delivery. Unsubscribing stops newsletter messages; limited unsubscribe or suppression records may be retained to honor your choice. Contact correspondence and account information are kept while needed for the conversation, account administration, security, or applicable recordkeeping requirements. Provider logs and backups can have separate retention schedules. You can ask about or request deletion of information using the contact address below.

Your choices and requests

You can read the public articles without subscribing. To stop the Weekly Note, use its unsubscribe link. To ask what personal information I hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email online@joshallenparker.com. Please describe your request without including sensitive documents. I may need to verify that the information belongs to you before acting, and some records may need to be retained for security, legal obligations, or honoring an opt-out.

This professional writing site is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me so I can investigate and address it.

Changes to this notice

I will post changes here and update the effective date. For a material change to how personal information is used, I will provide additional notice or choices when appropriate.
